Snake in the Dreamscapes

(夢蛇)

N/ADrama

Overview

Lian, once active in Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement, now lives in Taiwan with her mother, Yahon. While researching her grandmother Paochu’s past as a Communist guerrilla, she stumbles into the murder of a Vietnamese logger. The story stretches back: in 1989, Yahon’s colleague Xian confesses to being a secret police informant before dying under suspicious circumstances. In 1951, Paochu’s lover led a guerrilla group ruled by fear, while Kun, secretly in love with her, executed suspected traitors—until his death left his sister Biyu exploited by an officer and gave birth to Xian. Spanning three generations, the film interrogates history, betrayal, and the shifting lines of justice.
