A 16 years old school girl, Shuming Xiao married to Mosuo minority's bandit chieftain La Baocheng in 1943. She had to leave her hometown - Chengdu, moved from a modern city to Lugu lake where the matrilineal society and the "Axia visiting marriage" system still exist. Lugu Lake is about 1000 miles far from Chengdu in remote mountain area.
