Biography

Augusto Novaro Vega (August 1st, 1918 – April 14th, 1986), better known simply as Tito Novaro, was a Mexican film actor, screenwriter, and director. He entered the industry in 1936 as an extra and developed a long career largely in supporting and ensemble roles while also writing story treatments and screenplays in the 1940s–1950s, later working as an assistant director. He moved into directing in the early 1960s, initially in co-direction, and made his solo directorial debut with “El dilema,” a segment of the anthology feature Trampas de amor. From the 1970s through the mid-1980s he directed a cycle of popular genre and melodrama features—often combining directing with writing or adaptation—including El robo de las momias de Guanajuato, El castillo de las momias de Guanajuato, and La hija de nadie, culminating in late-career films such as Lazos de sangre and El último disparo.
