Biography

Augusto Barone was born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, on December 12, 1901.

He began as a stagehand assistant with the Chaby Pinheiro Company in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul. With this company, he traveled to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

He worked with the Dulcina-Odilon Company and also with the comedian Mesquitinha's company. He went to work as an assistant to Oduvaldo Vianna at Rádio São Paulo (PRA-5), where he met and married the radio actress Leonor Navarro.

He assumed the position of studio director and director of the Radio Drama Department at Rádio São Paulo. He worked at TV Record and Rádio Piratininga.

At TV Cultura, he performed in the television play "A Casa dos Rochedos" in 1963, and at TV Tupi, as an actor, he worked in the telenovela "João Juca Jr." In 1969, he starred in a series written by Sylvan Paezzo and directed by Walter Avancini, in addition to "Hospital" and "Signo da Esperança".

He was a recipient of the Roquette Pinto Radio Award and in film he acted in "Compasso de Espera"; "Os Maridos Traem e as Mulheres Subtraem" and "Fora das Grades".

He passed away on July 3, 1972, leaving four children with actress Leonor Navarro.
