Jim Purcell

Jim Purcell, known affectionately as 'Jarra Jim', was a World War II veteran and charity fundraiser who achieved notability by his annual participation in the Great North Run, which he only began at the age of 65 following the death of his wife, but continued to take part well into his 90s. He died at the age of 96.
