"Once Upon a Time – A Modern Fairy Tale, produced in 1949, represents Dollywood’s early period, and the creation of Dutch, English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese versions of the film testifies to the studio’s already international clientele. The use of Technicolor suggests also that this was an important commission for the studio; at the time, many Geesink advertisements were still produced in less-expensive black and white.
