The highest peak in the Thuringian Forest, the Inselsberg, is surrounded by peaceful health resorts and industrious rural towns: Friedrichsroda, Tabarz, Schmalkalden, Bad Liebenstein, Bad Salzungen, Ruhla, and Eisenach, the town of Wartburg Castle.
