City pop is rising in popularity through YouTube. The music, along with its romanticised imagery, reassembles collective memories. Once more, culture repeats itself, and technology, a foundation upon which culture is built, allows us to reflect on the present. In the looping lyrics, a single line floats through the city: “We cannot go back.”
